Year 5 & 6 Football Team win Borough Competition

Last Friday, Strand on the Green competed in a Year 5 and 6 football tournament against a number of teams across Hounslow Borough. The team began the day with a narrow 1-0 defeat, which saw lots of chances but unfortunately, could not find the goal. The team picked themselves up and responded excellently, winning all 5 of their remaining games. Some fantastic performances from Tino, which saw him score 9 goals in the group stages, which got us through to the knockout stages. The resilience and teamwork saw every outfield player contribute to the goal scoring. The pressure began to build as we got into the quarter finals, but the calm and collected attitude allowed us to get through to the semi-finals, winning 4-0. Onto the semi-finals…without hesitation, the team knew they needed to win to get into the final, with an emphatic performance, we won 3-0. In the final game of the tournament, playing for the trophy, Tino got us off to a fantastic start with a dazzling run and a superb finish. 1-0…As a team, we passed and moved the ball so well, but unfortunately, our opponents got one goal back. This did not set the team back, they stayed confident, and to finish the game, Lex collected the ball at the halfway line and smashed it off the crossbar and into the back of the net to take the championship! A massive well done to Tino, Tate, Hugo, Elis, Aiden, Lex and Arlo.
