World Book Day Extravaganza

Strand became alive yesterday with literary characters from all our favourite books. From Tweedledee and Tweedledum to Vikings and from The Seven Dwarves to Percy Jackson, we seemed to have it all. We even had a walking, talking dictionary! The costumes were, as ever, a great reflection of the huge breadth of reading interest at Strand. However, this year also saw the introduction of ‘Get Cosy and Read’, so children and staff alike came into school in their cosiest pyjamas to spend some quality time snuggled up in the library and classrooms reading and sharing their favourite books.

As well as activities in class focusing on beautiful picture books, children spent lots of time-sharing snappy recommendations. Our new Strand Padlet was launched and is now full of ideas as to what to read next, and we bolstered our existing digital library system with reviews of our huge book stock.
