Strand on the Green Junior School

Strandites win Bronze in UK Maths Challenge

Strandites win Bronze in UK Maths Challenge

Strand took part in the Junior Maths Challenge run by the UK Mathematics Trust in May. It is aimed at those in years 7 and 8 (aged 13 and below) and all pupils take the same paper regardless of age. There are 25 challenging multiple choice questions on the paper starting (relatively) easy and getting more difficult. Well done to the 9 Mathletes from Strand who entered this year and scored above the national average in 17 of the 25 questions. The top 40% of all pupils in the UK receive a medal. This year Alice, Brandon D, Brendan, Dajlanda, Denys, Frankie and Kian all achieved a Bronze medal while Charlotte and Christian both received a Certificate of Participation. Special congratulations go to Frankie who has the Certificate for Best In School (keeping up the girls’ record of being top every year so far). It is an amazing achievement to rank so highly compared to 240,000 secondary pupils from across the UK.
