Strand Girls Win Borough Cricket

Wow! On a scorching hot day, our girls' cricket team showed passion, commitment, resilience and pure cricket talent today. The day started off with a 7 run loss to Springwell. Undeterred, the team then went on to thrash Marlborough by 30 runs. This meant we progressed into the knockout rounds. The girls then really turned on the talent, Isla with some calm and collected bowling, which resulted in beating St Mary’s in the quarter finals…Our next opponents, Cranford. Some fantastic individual performances all round but the girls kept getting better and better. Thrashing them by 38 runs. Onto the final. The team we faced in our first game, Springwell. The girls had to defend 62 runs to take the trophy back to Strand… a marvellous final 2 overs from Hazel and Rose stopped Springwell getting anywhere near our score, beating them by 28 runs. This shows the resilience and talent each child in the team has. A massive well done to everyone.
