Read for your school
Strand have joined Read for My School, an online reading challenge which runs from 27 January to 28 March. It is a print and digital reading initiative that promotes reading for pleasure and rewards schools and individuals with the opportunity to win prizes, simply by reading and competing online. Pupils are encouraged to read as many, and as wide a range of books, as they can in the two months of the competition. The website includes a library of over 100 online books to choose from. The books are organised in eight genre-categories. Pupils may also choose to read any book of their choice offline and there is a great list of recommended reads submitted by publishers across the country and chosen by a panel of literary experts. After reading each book pupils are asked to log what they have read and then move on to the next book of their choice. In the Share section of the website pupils and teachers are invited to share their views and recommend good books to others. Simple! Well done to Alveena and Esha who have already started reading and are well on their way to hitting our school target of 250 books! Just visit the website http://www.readformyschool.co.uk/app/#/api/user/login and use your fronter log on.
