School Council

This Year's School Council

At Strand, we have an active school council, made up of 12 children from across the school. At the beginning of the year, children and staff elect 3 members from each year group, to sit on the council. The council meets fortnightly to discuss issues and concerns that affect the whole school, and is chaired by a Year 6 child, with a teacher present to represent the staff views. Additionally, each week, class council meetings are held, run by two elected members of each class. These meetings are to discuss smaller scale issues and concerns that affect the children in the class.

Much of the agenda for school council meetings is created from the points that class councils have identified as whole-school issues, and put forward to be addressed.
